It’s happening again. Women are getting hysterical over nothing so let’s have someplace soft for them to land and lay their pretty, little heads. I know, let’s bring back the fainting couches! Those are sure to catch their fall.
If you don’t read that dripping with the sarcasm that is intended, then you’re in the wrong place.
Those who know me know that I’m not easily offended and I don’t typically give credence to people who make petty comments that perpetuate a stereotype of a segment of the population.
The adverse reaction that I had to the comments made by the CPSC spokesperson Julie Vallese (who is now the former spokesperson), however, made me realize that one of the few buttons I have had actually been pushed.
By blaming mommybloggers for the misinformation around CPSIA she not only diminshed the role that female bloggers play in the media but she also perpetuated what, by now, should be a long forgotten stereotype of women who overreact to a situation that they ’surely don’t understand.’
What she seemed to have forgotten is that this law affects everyone and that it is not solely women who are up in arms over the CPSIA.
Shame on you Ms. Vallese for trying to distract us from the real issue.
