I had some great responses to my post Watch As Their Eyes Glaze Over and how so many of us become “that person” when we talk about CPSIA. @Minnie suggested that a postcard might be helpful is spreading the word which got me thinking about how we might accomplish pulling a small card together that would give someone a sense of what we’re going through.
I have been very interested in word clouds for some other work I’m doing and just last night was reminded about Wordle where you can create your own cloud from a URL or from a group of words. So, I asked around Twitter for five descriptive words that first come to mind when thinking about CPSIA and created the following word clouds for us to use on our blogs or to create our own postcards. Vistaprint is a service where you could get postcards for free and on the backside of the card, you could write the name and contact information of your state Senators and Representatives so people can easily contact them.
These are just first attempts as I would really like some feedback on which words, outside of CPSIA should stand out most and then I will recreate some options.
Please leave a comment and let me know which words should be at the forefront and also add any others you’d like to see.
Here are the three options I have created so far. Click on them to see the larger version. Also, for those who are using Mozilla, I’ve had problems with the Java plug-in so access my blog through Internet Explorer if you come across the same issue.
Option 3:

I wondered if this is what you were up to! They look great- and what a neat idea to put contact information on postcards of these images to hand out. Very clever!
Like the overall idea and probably option 2 best. Thanks for creating these!
Great idea! I like #2 and #3, can’t choose.
I can’t help but think the background should be in the shape of a socialist / communist country… I’m BAD!!!!
