CPSIA Series: Instead of Paint by Numbers, We Have CPSIA by Numbers

by Walney on February 2, 2009

I’m sure many would trace it to my upbringing, while others would cite my temperament but I’m someone who likes data. I like it even more when we are able to make sound decisions with supporting data.

This is not to say that throwing some emotion in the mix isn’t important, but I do like to see the numbers to understand the real instead of assumed impact. I feel much better when I have data to support my argument as it will speak to a broader audience.

So when Wacky Hermit of Organic Baby Farm decided to do the number crunching for me, I was thrilled that I could finally have some data behind what my gut already knew: the CPSIA as stated would not have made the difference many are touting it would.

I therefore highly recommend you read her post: CPSIA by the numbers (a first in the series, I might add) so that you might form or support your own feelings about this new law.

I am excited to see what other insights she is able to share as this former math professor (very cool, btw) crunches the numbers and shares her analysis.
