Baby You Can Drive My Car: Cars from Papa (HTA Week)

by Walney on June 23, 2010

Even before the movement to toys made with natural materials, I have been a fan of wood products: tables, dressers, chairs, sculptures – you name it. I even have wooden yoga blocks because of their beauty, solidity, and sleekness.

Using natural materials makes sense for a whole host of reasons but, for me, the simplest of them is the tactile experience that a child gains from playing with a handmade wood toy. It’s therefore extremely frustrating to know that small companies like Cars from Papa that aim to do nothing more than create beautiful items for children are still in jeopardy because of the CPSIA.

As you look through his store, it’s hard to decide which of his toys you want to buy first and for whom. My favorite? The 4-car train.

Please continue to spread the word about the effects of the CPSIA continuing to go unamended and support organizations like the Handmade Toy Alliance in their efforts to change the law and help save small businesses.
