From where I sit, I am amazed at what a small group of people can do to affect change in such a short period of time. In a matter of two weeks a rally on the Hill was planned, a website was built that not only included valuable content but a great visual design that was well received by everyone, and meetings were scheduled with various members of Congress so that they could hear people’s stories firsthand.
Go ahead. Reread that list again and know that there is no typo. Yes, I said two weeks.
While I’m sure there were a couple of hiccups here are there, they certainly weren’t apparent to those of us in front of the computer. The live streaming video came through loud and clear. People attended the webinar, they called in by phone. There was conversation through chat on the home page, through Twitter, and emails bounced back and forth from family and friends across the world.
While I could provide a detailed recap of the various posts and comments that resulted from this great event, I will instead recommend that you take some time and read through the official rally site. What is great about this event and the forum that it provided is that not only did business owners comment and share their thoughts, but so did a high school government club and an 11 year old whose own aspirations have been affected by this law.
Rick, your goal was met: The Amend the CPSIA rally was heard around the world and provided anyone who wanted to take part the opportunity to become part of the conversation.
